Harvard Law School financial aid

Harvard Law School offers financial assistance to students in form of loans and scholarships (grants). You can apply for the grant and loan, loan only, or grant only depending on your financial needs.

The financial aid awards are based majorly on the financial need of the applicant. Things like GPA, academic background, citizenship, etc, are not counted.

The grant covers about half of your tuition fee ($67,720) which means you will need to find the remaining fees from other sources of funds. The average grant for 2021 was $33,000 while the average loan was $21,500.

To get financial assistance from Harvard, you need to complete the online financial aid application on their website. Your applying for financial aid will not affect your application for admission

Can you get a full scholarship to Harvard Law?

No, you cannot get a full scholarship to Harvard Law School in 2022.

If they offered fully-funded scholarships, it will reduce the amount of money reserved for financial aid in 2022, and that will increase the debt burden of students who need it.

While you may not be able to get a full scholarship, their financial aid program covers a part of the cost of attendance. This doesn’t stop you from applying for external scholarships.

Does Harvard Law give good financial aid?

Yes, Harvard Law School gives good financial aid.

The program gives financial aid to students based on their financial needs, not academic standing.

HLS determines financial needs by assessing the resources of the student and that of his/her family.
