UC Irvine League of Legends scholarship
On my list of League of Legends scholarships, the University of California, Irvine, takes first place. UCI Esports is searching for talented gamers to join their scholarship teams for League of Legends.
Apart from the financial benefits, there are a lot of other advantages you get when you join their teams. The teams have a full support staff comprising coaches, team psychologists, managers, exercise physiologists, etc.
Requirements
- You must be a current or incoming full-time student at the University of California Irvine
- You are expected to have passed the rank of Grandmaster in the game

Robert Morris University League of Legends scholarship
RMU is one institution that has started a scholarship program for students who love to play games in the country. Robert Morris University LOL scholarship covers 50% of your tuition and 50% of board and room. What does it mean?
This scholarship is not for those who think that they school for free just by playing League of Legends. When we calculated it, the scholarship was worth about $19,000 for each student.
The scholarship is only for those who wish to study at RMU. Once you apply, you will be contacted through email if you are eligible.
Eligible applicants will attend the meeting in Chicago, after which some applicants will be cut off since the number of spots available is 30. Those who pass that stage will be instructed on what to do next. You still have to practice for hours daily while maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Columbia College League of Legends scholarship
In 2016, Columbia College, a private college in Missouri, joined the list of schools offering scholarships to students who play League of Legends.
The school believes eSports is the present, not the future, and should be embraced just like traditional sports by higher institutions.
Requirements
- You must be willing to study at Columbia College, or you are already admitted.
- You must maintain a GPA of 2.0
- You are expected to have a good KDA and rank in League of Legends
- ACT and SAT scores are required

Illinois Tech Esports Scholarship
Illinois Institute of Technology offers scholarships to students who demonstrate a commitment to community-building, leadership development, and growth in the esports community.
Requirements
- You must be a citizen of the US or a permanent resident
- You must be an incoming first-year student of the Illinois Institute of Technology
- You must show interest in the growth and development of the eSports community at Illinois Tech

- Apply for regular admission to IIT
- Upload the following materials to the scholarship submission form:
- Supplemental ESports scholarship application
- A one-page essay explaining your involvement in Esports

- Finalists will participate in various activities and be invited to connect with the organization
- Scholarship recipients will be notified in March
The University of Pikeville League of Legends Scholarship
This Kentucky-based university is one of the higher institutions in the US that recognizes and rewards League of Legends players.
The University of Pikeville started this program in December 2015, when eSports was not a thing. Dxracer, Asus, Ibuypower, and Steelseries support it.
Requirements
- You must be willing to study at the University of Pikeville
- You are expected to be an above-average player in the League of Legends
- A completed Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is required
How to apply
- Contact the University of Pikeville eSports team, explaining who you are and your achievements in the game regarding ranks, position, badges, etc.
- Apply to the University of Pikeville for undergraduate admission (mark eSports as one of your interests in the form)
- Fill Prospective Athlete form on the University’s athletic website. Don’t forget to select Esports and include your League of Legends username or summoner name.
- You must submit a completed FAFSA form to the University of Pikeville Financial Aid Department.
- Eligible applicants will be notified through email.
Indiana Tech Esports
Since 2017, Indiana Tech Esports has been the first school in Indiana to award scholarships to League of Legends players. Over the years, they added two more games (Hearthstone & OverWatch) to their eSports scholarship program.
Prospective applicants must be willing to study at the Indiana Institute of Technology for the 2024-2025 academic year. Their gaming arenas have 20 high-end PCs, DXRacer gaming chairs, and Razer gaming peripherals.

The University of Akron eSports scholarship
The University of Akron offers a $1000 scholarship to varsity members who play LoL or any other games supported by the institution. UA’s varsity teams compete against other universities in League of Legends, and the winners are rewarded.
There are many benefits to being part of their eSports teams; you get access to exclusive training facilities with state-of-the-art gaming PCs, physical fitness training, etc.
Requirements
- You must be an incoming freshman or a high school student willing to study at the University of Akron.
- You are expected to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5
- You must be an experienced player of LoL
Henderson State League of Legends scholarship
Henderson State University is the first in Arkansas to offer scholarships and dedicated funding for esports.
They support League of Legends and other games like Call of Duty, Six Siege, Valorant, etc. Part-time students are not eligible to apply for this scholarship, and it’s worth about $2000 per year.
Requirements
- You must be a current full-time student or an incoming HSU student (full-time)
- You must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA.
- Scholarship recipients must attend team practices and follow team guidelines.
Boise state university League of Legends scholarship
Players in the League of Legends team at Boise State University are eligible for scholarships.
The team, which consists of 10-16 players, will be selected from the incoming and current Boise State students.
Requirements
- You must maintain grades and academic performance
- You must be a current or incoming full-time Boise State student
- You must be willing to attend selected matches and team practices
- You are expected to maintain competitive preparation and readiness
