1. Children of Warriors National Presidents’ Scholarship
American Legion Auxiliary – The Department of Oregon sponsors this scholarship. Several 15 scholarships are available to daughters, sons, grandsons, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters of members of The American Legion who have served in the military.
Scholarship Worth
The scholarship is worth between $2,500 and $3,500, and 15 scholarships are available.
Requirements
- Applicants must be in their senior year of high school and have completed at least one year of college.
- Financial requirement: Need-based
- ACT or SAT exam scores are required in addition to other academic requirements.
- Extracurricular: Participation in community volunteer work
- Military: Daughters, sons, grandsons, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters of veterans who served in the Armed Forces and American Legion members should apply.
- Miscellaneous: The applicant must do 50 hours of community service in high school. The beneficiary organization must verify the hours in writing (s). Daughters, sons, grandsons, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren are eligible for this award.
- Other Benefits: The American Legion Auxiliary National Headquarters must obtain proof of enrollment within twelve months of the scholarship winner’s announcement, or the award will be withdrawn. The scholarship must be used within 24 months of the day National Headquarters notifies the winner. Otherwise, the award will be forfeited.

- A letter from the receiving organization(s) attesting to 50 hours of volunteer service completed in high school.
- A photocopy or certified transcript of the applicant’s high school diploma
- A copy of your ACT or SAT results, FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form, FAFSA Summary Report, Confirmation Page, or FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR).
- A summary of your parents or grandparents’ military service, including a branch of service, dates of service, or a photocopy of their discharge papers.
2. Samsung Scholarship For Grandchildren of Korean War Veterans
American Legion Auxiliary – The Department of Oregon is the sponsor. The award supports undergraduate studies of direct descendants or a lawfully adopted child of a former soldier who completed active service on specified eligible periods as specified by the American Legion in commemorating US veterans who assisted Korea against communist forces during the Korean War.
A delegate to an American Legion Boys State or American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program is required.
Scholarship Worth
Scholarships range from $852 to $20,000 in value.
Requirements
- Scholarship entries are only accepted from high school juniors.
- Need for Money: Required
- The Samsung American Legion Scholarship is for undergraduate study at a college or university in the United States accredited by the American Legion.
- Military: Relatives of a World War II veteran
- High school juniors currently enrolled in either The American Legion Boys State or The American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program.
- Miscellaneous: To be eligible for a scholarship, the recipient must be a full-time student.
- Scholarships are only available to high school juniors who are direct descendants – i.e., children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc. – or legally adopted children of a former wartime soldier who did serve in the active military within at least one of the periods of war officially designated as eligibility dates for American Legion membership.

3. Michigan Memorial Scholarship For Korean War Veterans’ Grandchildren
American Legion Auxiliary – The Department of Michigan is the sponsor of this scholarship.
This program was founded to benefit the daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters of retired military or deceased men and women soldiers of World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, the Granada and Lebanon Wars, and the Panama War.
Moreover, this competition is open to high school seniors or college freshmen/sophomores under 21. The money can be used for tuition, room and board, fees, books, and supplies at any Michigan school, college, or other educational institution.
Worth of the Scholarship
A $500 prize is awarded to the scholarship winner.
Requirements
- Male or female
- The applicant must be entering or in her senior year of high school or a freshman or sophomore year of college but not older than 21.
- Applicant must be a Michigan resident at the time of application and for at least one year before the date of this award.
- Any school, college, or other educational institution in Michigan is considered a college.
- Military: Daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters of honorably discharged or deceased World War II servicemen.
A copy of the veteran’s discharge papers stating the date of induction or enrollment and the date of separation. (Can be received through the clerk’s office in the county where the veteran resides.) ; A copy of your Income Tax Form (1040 Pages 1 & 2) or a Federal FAFSA Form completed in 2024. 4. Past President’s Parley Scholarship 2024
Sponsor: Texas American Legion Auxiliary
This award was created to help a child or grandchild of a Veteran who served in the Army during the American Legion’s membership eligibility years. Applicants must attend a Texas Education Institution to pursue a profession in medicine.
Requirements
- Not Mentioned Financial Need
- A resident of Texas is required for an application.
- College: Consider enrolling in a Texas educational institution.
- Major/Career: Pursuing a medical degree at a Texas educational institution.
- Military: Be a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of a veteran, or a veteran in their own right, who served in the Armed Forces during the years listed below.

5. Scholarship for National Warriors’ Grandchildren
American Legion Auxiliary – The Department of Michigan is the sponsor of this scholarship.
The program was created to support daughters, sons, grandsons, granddaughters, great-granddaughters, and great-grandsons of veterans who served in the Armed Forces during WWI, WWII, the Korea War, the Vietnam War, the Grenada and Lebanon War, the Panama War, or the Persian Gulf War from 1991 to the current time. This event is available to high school students.
Information on the scholarship: $5,000 will be awarded to 15 winners.
